Thoughts and prayers,

Thoughts and prayers.

You say this consistently,

Yet in just a few days, you won’t remember me.

When I’m dead, and when I’m gone

And when my body is too broken to fight

What will you do in the middle of this plight?

I know not what you have done right

For all of your wrongs make up for the bad in this world.

I never thought I would have heard

The morning lark seconds before it ended

Before my vision bended

And then it was dark

And now I am dead

Another body just around the bend

Of a funeral or cremation

Ashes to be scattered

As you say “Thoughts and prayers”

Like I never really mattered.
